DIETING THE MOMMY WAY | |||||||||||||||
|
Written by Kelley Cunningham Atkins, SouthBeach, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers and The Zone have all come and gone, but it's too hard to stick to a diet now that my cooking amounts to heating up chicken nuggets. What to do? I've come up with my own diet, one that all mothers can follow easily. It's called the "Are You Finished With That?" Diet. If you stick to this one, it'll really work. It's all about portion control and suppression of appetite. The trick is to eat the kid's leftovers only. Are you ready? Sure you are. Chances are the first meal is already prepared and spilled all over the table. Here goes. Breakfast: Leftover rice cereal mixed with breast milk. Eat it before it gets partially digested and watery from your baby's saliva. Dinosaur Eggs oatmeal that your son begged for then refused to touch. Any wayward Cheerios you happen to spot before they get stepped on. Two spoonfuls of cold mac and cheese. Bread crust from a PBJ. Warm Nestle Quik. Whatever came home in the lunch box uneaten. Porbably a box of raisins and an unwrapped cheese stick garnished with teeth marks . Giant mar-tini with extra olives. Shaken, stirred, who cares? Slice of pepperoni you stole from kid's pizza. Three blackened french fries. Scrape them off the cookie sheet. The grapes that were a little too mushy for the Princess to eat. Halloween/Easter/Valentine candy. That's an average day on the "Are You Finished With That?" diet. It's easy. No particular food preparation or complicated lists. Some more ideas:
Well, that's the plan. You get the idea. Just eat whatever's left when the kids leave the table. Guaranteed to surpress your appetite more effectively than mainlining Ephedra. Think how sleek you'll look this summer.

Ingredients: 2 cups sugar Directions:
Biscuit necklacesServing Size:Makes 20-30 biscuits Ingredients:
Method:Cream the butter and sugar together with a spoon or using an electric mixer. Add the egg and vanilla and whisk until smooth. Add the flour and mix until a smooth dough forms. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Line three baking trays with non-stick baking paper. Divide dough into three pieces. Roll each piece of dough on a floured surface to 5mm thick. Use your favourite cutters to cut out hearts, stars, circles etc. Place biscuits on baking trays and use a wooden skewer or toothpick to make a 5mm diameter hole in each biscuit. Cook for 10-15 minutes until golden. Cool biscuits on trays. To prepare icing, mix icing sugar with enough water to make a spreadable paste and mix in your chosen colour. Or divide icing into containers and use 2-3 different colours. Decorate with sprinkles or smarties. Leave for 30 minutes until the icing is set. Thread ribbon through the hole in the biscuit and tie off to make a necklace. Will keep in an airtight container for 3-4 days.

G-Force
Release Date: Friday, 31 July 2009 (Ster-Kinekor) Producer Jerry Bruckheimer brings his first 3-D animation to the big screen with "G-Force," about the latest evolution of a covert government program to teach animals to work in espionage. Equipped with the latest high-tech spy equipment, these highly trained guinea pigs realise that the fate of the world is in their paws. Tapped for the G-Force are guinea pigs Darwin (voice of Sam Rockwell), the squad commander determined to succeed at all costs; Blaster (voice of Tracy Morgan), an outrageous weapons expert with tons of attitude and a love for all things extreme; and Juarez (voice of Penelope Cruz), a sexy martial arts professional; plus the literal fly-on-the-wall reconnaissance expert, Mooch, and a star-nosed mole, Speckles (voice of Nicolas Cage), the computer and information specialist. Directed by two-time Oscar®-winning visual effects master Hoyt Yeatman—"G-Force" takes audiences on a high-octane thrill ride, proving once and for all that size really doesn't matter.
