"You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back."

BEING A MOM MEANS NEVER GOING TO THE BATHROOM ALONE AGAIN

Being a mom means that I won’t get 5 minutes to myself until all of my kids move out. I can not move an inch without hearing, “Mom! What are you doing? Where are you going?” If I get really desperate, I escape to the bathroom to take a shower. I put in Teletubbies and warn them that I will throw away all their toys if anyone moves an inch. If I turn the water up really high, I can almost pretend that I can’t hear "Ooooh Tubby Toast" coming from the living room. After 5 blissful minutes, I will hear footsteps and there will undoubtedly be 2 noses pushed up against the shower door. “What’cha doing mom?“ Sigh!

WHEN MOM AIN'T HAPPY, AIN'T NOBODY HAPPY!

“When Mom ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy!”  Husbands nod their head in agreement when they hear these words. Here are seven easy suggestions to take time out for you.

1.Go on Mommy Strike - Go on strike in certain areas of your home in order to give your family members the opportunity to help out!

2. Breathe Deep - When we are stressed out our breathing becomes shallow and this leads to feeling more tired and more stressed

3. Find Your Village - We’ve all heard that it takes a village to raise a child.  There are moms in your community who would be happy to share child-care a couple times a week so you can both take some time off.

4. Have gems of friends - Having at least five “gems of friends” Friends with whom you can share anything and everything is critical.

5. Take a mommy time-out - Moms need time to watch movies, time to dream, and time to be. The only person who can make the time happen is you.

6. Exercise Without Going to the Gym- Start taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walk instead of drive, and play more with your kids instead of just watching them play.

7. Book Mom Spa Time for You - An expensive spa isn’t the only way to replenish your spirit. Create your own spa time by stocking up on bath salts, candles and nail polish and make time to pamper yourselve!

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

  French Toast
(With banana or Pineapple or sweet Potato or Pumpkin or Carrot or Butternut)

Some children are suspicious of the specs in wholegrain bread, and a dusting of cinnamon sugar serves nicely     as a camouflage! Use a shaker for dusting. If you don’t have one, use a tea strainer for sprinkling the sugar.

Prep Time: 3 minutes
Total: 10 minutes
Serves: 4

4 large egg
2 tablespoons chosen pureed veg
¼ tsp cinnamon
4 slices whole-wheat bread

Nonstick cooking spray
2 tsp soft lite margarine
Pure maple syrup, cinnamon sugar or fresh fruit, for serving on top
Wheatgerm Plus for sprinkling (optional)

In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, puree, and cinnamon. Add the bread slices and turn in the mixture to soak for  30 seconds to 1 minute (any longer and the bread will get too soggy).

Coat the nonstick pan with cooking spray and set it over medium-high heat. When the pan is hot, add the margarine. When the margarine sizzles, add the soaked bread slices (sprinkle with Wheatgerm Plus if you like), and cook until golden brown on the outside, 2 - 3 minutes per side.  Serve warm with maple syrup, cinnamon   sugar, or fruit.

THE LIGHTER SIDE OF LIFE

A woman got on a bus with seven children. The bus conductor asked: 'Are these all yours lady? Or is it a picnic? 'They're all mine,' she replied. 'And it's no picnic!'
