Dear Parents and everyone passionate about children

Our website came into existence because 1) searching for a specific item on the internet, for example 'party venues, jungle gyms, child-friendly restaurants' became a daunting and time-consuming task. I spent hours trying to search through hundreds of advertisements and listings, trying to find a service or product and 2) we love to take our two sons on outings and have found some real gems that we wanted to share with everyone.

You're all finally ready to set off on a family outing. But how do you ensure the day goes without any hitches.

With a bit of forward planning, lots of patience and diplomacy, you can deal with any problems and have a great day out. Here are some useful tips to employ.

1. Choose an Outing Carefully

To avoid disappointment and falling out, it's best to try and pick something that will appeal to everyone

2. Cater for All Ages

You do need to consider everyone's needs and interests and do the best you can to find somewhere that will appeal to everyone

3. Take Things To Do On the Way

To avoid niggles and grumps on the way, take plenty of things for your kids to do

4. Take Things to Do During the Day

Hunt down your bats and balls, put the cricket stumps in the boot, don't forget the football and ensure the Frisbee is in. You're sure to find somewhere suitable for a quick game or two.

Why take the kids on outings?

  • Outings are fun and can offer a release from the routine existence of school. They give children confidence and self-esteem
  • Outings offer opportunities for discussion, questions, conversation and new vocabulary.
  • Children can note the distance they have travelled and realise how important it is to be able to count, as adults are constantly checking that all the children are there!
  • Outings offer knowledge of the outside world
  • Outings provide opportunities for fresh air and exercise. It is an introduction to a form of exercise that will give pleasure throughout life.
  • Most outings inspire creativity in children
